Hi, I am reading Michelle Knudsen’s book, The Dragon of Trelian. It’s a great fantasy story with lots of twists and turns. In it, a magician’s apprentice becomes friends with a princess who is linked to a dragon she has been keeping secret. They have to work together to outsmart some evil at work in the castle. I can’t wait to meet the author!

I just started today. (As soon as I got it signed.) I’m only a chapter into the book, but I give it two thumbs up. (Mainly because I only have two thumbs.) I really loved meeting Michelle Knudson. It was so fascinating, especially for people who love books. I would say you should read it. I can’t wait for the sequel. :)

A book I’m reading right now is Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene. In theis book, German POW’s are arriving in Patty’s Bergen’s town. Patty Bergen is rather curious about the POW’s. Some POW’s were in shopping at Mr. and Mrs. Bergen’s department store and POW’s came in to buy hats. One of the POW’s was talking to Patty about what you call a pencil pocket sharpener. Patty admired how Anton spoke such perfect English. Patty’s parents seem to like Patty’s sister, Sharon more than Patty. Patty tries to get her parents to like her, but they just tell her what is wrong about herself. I personally am enjoying the book, but am totally disliking the language and how Patty’s parents treat her.

    • Amanda Said:

No Way! I’m reading The Summer of My German Soldier too!
I’m also reading What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell. It’s a book for boy-crazy girls. Evylen Spooner is in love with Peter Coleridge. But… Evie’s mom is also in love with Peter, even though she’s married! Then, Peter goes with Mr. and Mrs. Spooner on a boating trip. Four hours pass and they aren’t back. A terrible hurricane comes. Evie thinks that her parents and Peter didn’t come back because they went to shelter from the storm. But, Evie soon learns that the hurricane reached them first. And, sadly, word gets to her that Peter was killed. According to her father, Peter went overboard to fix the motor and a wave came and knocked a wrench onto his head which knocked him out which made him drown. But, everybody is trying to blame her father for the murder. They believe that Joe Spooner dropped the wrench. Where’s the truth? Will it ever be revealed? Or is the question… SHOULD the truth be revealed? I’m not telling you anymore here. Read the book to find out more.

Oh I saw that in a book order, it looked pretty good. And how old is this Peter guy anyway?

His grandma helps him turn all of the witches into mice themselves and it went really well and it worked! THE END!! I love this book!! It is my favorite book! I am reading a book called Tormod. The author is Kat Black. It’s about a person who gets a message to deliver but must keep it secret. He finds himself stuck on a epic adventure. I think it’s a great book.

      Tim it’s nina ,
that sounds like a great book do you know if we can get it at our schools libray????

  7. Natalie Kerr Said:

Well, I’ve read a lot of books, so I’m not sure which one to pick…Okay, got one. The book I’m reading is called Greener Grass by Caroline Pignat. It takes place during the Great Famine in 1847. It’s incredibly depressing, as the main character’s father dies, her brother dies, and her baby brother dies. Also, her neighbor’s house is burned down, the neighbor’s father dies, the neighbors son dies, she tries to kill her landlord, gets sent to jail, and when trying to reach America, or Canada, or wherever she’s going, she gets left behind. Yep. It’s a great book alright. Oh well. Better than reading Twilight. (Sorry Hannah…)

    • Natalie Kerr Said:

Yeah, forgot to mention the story takes place in Ireland. And the Great Famine was when all the potatoes grew a fungus or something and exploded. It’s really gross.

      • Hannah Morse Said:

OH no u didnt i love them TEAM EDWARD all the way :D

  8. Hi, I’m currently finishing “Book Thief” its a book about a girl living with her poor sort of foster family in Nazi Germany. The girl had been through alot she watched her brother die and her mother leave her and then her foster parents hide a Jewish man in their basement. I started reading the book because it was narrated by someone different not the main character but actually (this may seem kind of weird) death.

    • Natalie Kerr Said:

I started that book! I gave up on the fourth chapter; It’s impossible to follow!

  9. Elizabeth Faxlanger Said:

Another book I’m reading is Nancy Drew- The Mysterious Letter, by Carolyn Keene. It is a fantastic book as are the rest of the Nancy Drew books. I highly recommend them. Nancy receives a letter in the mail saying she has money in London, but the dilema is she doesn’t. It turns out there is another Nancy Drew, but the main character Nancy Drew is the Nancy that receives the letter because the address was rubbed off. Along the way Nancy gets into several dilemas (as always) and gets hurt in some sort of way every single time. (Don’t worry, Nancy is okay) In the end the Nancy the money should have gotten to gets it and her fiance (a bad guy) gets arrested for his wrong-doings. It is a wonderful book and series. Everyone should read it. (Especially people that like mysteries.)

Hi, i am reading two books. The one i like the most is probably New Moon which is the second book in the Twilight series. I have not yet read the last two books but i think this book is the best. In this book Bella Swan lives with her dad in Forks. She has met this boy in her school named Edward. They are dating now, but Belaa has a friend named Jacob(Taylor Lautner) who is jealous of Edward because he also likes Bella. In the second book Edward leaves Bella to protect his family’s secret. the secret is that they are vampires. Jacob is mad at Edward because he left Bella. A while in the book Jacob has these weird symptoms and he turns into a wearwolf. In the end of the book ……. well you’re going to have to read the book. Personally i think Jacob is the best character and actor.

Another book I’m reading is Candyfloss by Jacqueline Wilson. It is about a girl named Floss whose parents are divorced. Floss learns that her mom and new boyfriend will be taking a 6 month trip to Australia for a job interview. Floss isn’t sure whether she wants to stay with her dad or go with her mom. Then, Rhiannon, her BFF, turns her back on Floss and starts hanging out with Margot and Julie. (2 snobs) And Morgot’s name is NOT pronounced Margot. It’s pronounced Margo (with a long o) Then, Floss becomes friends with a girl named Susan, and her whole life changes for the better. I’m not telling you any more. Read the book.
P.S. Sorry I forgot my last name in my first blog.

The next book I read for PARP is The Five People you meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. It’s about a man who dies and meets five people whose life he unintentionally changes. Some people are people he knew, some are total strangers. It’s a new look at what could be heaven, and a very good book. (and it’s not depressing, like the last one!)

I am reading NUMBER THE STARS by Lois Lowry. This week Annemarie Ellen Mrs. Johansen, and Kirsti go and visit uncle Henrik. While they are there they were told that their great aunt Birte died. This made Annemarie suspicious because she had never heard of a great aunt Birte before. Peter brings many Jews to Henriks house to celebrate the death of aunt Birte. The Nazis come and ask why so many people are here, they tell them then the leave. around 1in the morning Peter takes about half of the Jews to his boat. Around 2-2:30 Mrs. Johansen takes the rest of them. Annemarie tried to stay awake for mama but fell asleep. When she woke up mama was not home yet. She went to find her. She found he laying on the ground. Mama had broken her ankle. Annemarie helped her up and back to the house.

I am currently reading Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene. I think it’s a pretty good book. This book is about a POW camp coming to Jenkinsville, a small town where Patty Bergen lives. Some of the POWs were shopping at the Bergen’s store and that’s where Patty met a German soldier named Anton. Anton wanted to escape from the camp. Patty saw him chasing after the train and wanted to help him.Now Anton is living in a secrect place over the Bergen’s garage and Patty is taking care of him.

  22. Tori Helfrich Said:

Hi Yall, i am also reading number the stars by Lois Lowry the chapter i just read is about how Annemarie is helping her mom because she broke her ankle. While she is helping her she found something in the yard. She went to go get it and then she noticed that it was the package(Peter gave to Ellen’s father) . Annemaries mother told her to run it to the boat where Ellen and Her parents where on.(Jews) Annemarie took it and then she was stopped by soldiers. They were wondering what she was doing late at night. She had this package in a basket with food over it. She said oh well my uncle forgot his lunch. in the package they open that they where not suppost to. It was a hankerchief. And so they thought ew…. so they left and Annemarie went to the boat.

Ok, I’m still reading Candyfloss. But I’ve read a book called The Twilight Stone. It’s a book with manga pictures in it. It’s by Mio Chizuru. This girl named Noelle is taken captive on a prison ship, because her family was the last known owner of the Twilight Stone, which made you invincible in combat. Noelle is rescued by Yuri, the captain of the Eurastia. (a legendary ship in children stories.) Lenny, a ship apprentice, shows Noelle around and lets her help with the ship. Zanan, a boy who can hear, see, but not talk, becomes a great friend to Noelle. He sort of speaks through playing music. You can tell what he’s feeling by the melody. But Black Cloak (random unidentified man whom everyone thought to be dead) has an evil plan to capture Noelle. I think it’s a wonderful book. But I won’t tell you how it ends. Read it to find out.

  24. Jeffrey Wojcinski Said:

I am still currently reading The book Deeper and the main character finds a secret cavern in the wall in the basement. He and his friend decide to dig it out and once they dig out the cavern they decide to investigate the cavern and they get captured by the men whereing coats and sunglasses and the y get held captive. This has been a great book so far.

  25. Natalie Kerr Said:

I’m readin Summer of my German Soldier by the person who wrote it. No actually, it’s by Bette Green. The whole 7th grade is reading this book, so that’s why so many people have summarized it. So it’s about a girl. And a guy. And the guy’s a German soldier named Anton that escaped from a Prisoner of war camp (POW) and all the bad people want to find him and kill him and Patty ( the girl) is like,”No! Don’t kill him! *I love him which is kinda creepy because I’m only 12 and he’s like, 20…* I know! I’ll hide him in a old abandoned house thingy above my evil dad’s garage! Yes! That’s brilliant!” AND SO…she feeds him and stuff and they’re happy and then one day he’s like, “I have to go. Okay bye!” And Patty’s like,”…But..okay, go.” And so he goes and she lives her life and then OH MY GOSH! the FBI people come, and they ask her a bunch of questions and they she finds out that Anton got shot and died and she goes all crazy and attacks the FBI guy. Then she goes through a long and complicated trial and gets sent to a ‘ Girls Reformatory School’ ( reform school, basically) for 4 to 6 months. Her was- a-housekeeper-but- got-sacked-by-Patty’s-evil-dad came and visited her and brought fried chicken. I like fried chicken. Then she leaves and…..dramatic pause…the book ends. The End. Yep…there’s my summary. Although you might want to read someone else’s version that doesn’t sound like a wacko wrote it. But it is a really interesting and exciting book! I recommend it.

    • Natalie Kerr Said:

      Wow. That was reeeeeeeeeeealy long.

Another book I’m reading (I read multiple books at the same time.) is The Princess and theGoblin by George MacDonald. I recommend the book, but beware that some of the chapters start with pronouns, so then you don’t know which character the book is talking about. The princess, Irene, lives in a castle. She wonders what the stairs down the hall lead to. Well, you probably guessed, she goes up the stairs. She finds that her grandmother lives up in the room, but nobody else knows. Her grandmother gives her a ring and tells Irene that if she ever gets worried to put the ring under her pillow and follow the string attached to it. Along the way while following the string, Curdie, the goblin appears. Curdie and Irene go the rest of the string’s length together. Read the book, I shall tell not an ounce more.

I’m reading (well, read) Hatchet by Gary Pulsen. You’ve probably heard of it or read it, but I want a free Darien Lake ticket. So! The book is about a kid, Brian Robeson, ( <– I think that's how you spell it…) who goes to visit his father who lives in the middle of a Canadian nowhere. During the plane ride, the pilot has a heart attack and dies. So now Brian's stuck in a plane with a dead guy. Great! He crashes into a lake, nearly kills himself (not for the first, or last time) and sinks the plane. The only thing he has is a twenty-dollar bill, which is probably very handy in the Canadian where-ever-he-is-in-Canada, and a hatchet. How will he survive? Maybe by reading the book! =)

I just finished reading this book called The Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene. Yes I know basically all of the 7th graders are writing about this book, but you can probably handle one more blog. Well anyway this book is about a 12 year old Jewish girl named Patty Bergen meets 22 year old Anton Reiker who by the way is a POW. When Anton escapes from the POW camp, Patty hides him in the second floor of her garage. Her housekeeper, Ruth helps her feed him and hide him hopefully until he can be free. But that doesn’t work out so well.
That’s all I really should say for this blog because I don’t want to ruin the book for anyone that wants to read it. This was a good book and I recommend it to YOU!

My next blog is about a book called My Sister the Vampire: Re-Vamped! by Sienna Mercer. Yeah I know it sounds like a stupid book, but it’s actually pretty good so don’t be judging me. It is the 3rd book in the series. The series is about these two girls named Ivy Vega and Olivia Abbott. They are two very different girls. Olivia is a pink loving cheerleader, while Ivy is a pale Goth who happens to be a vampire along with most of the students at Franklin Grove Middle School. In the first book Ivy and Olivia finally figure out that they are identical twin sisters after Olivia moves into town. So in this book, they told their parents that they were twins and now thanks to their friend Toby Decker the whole school read an article about them being twins. What will they do? Well don’t ask me I haven’t finished the book yet!

The 1 thing that really bugs me in this book is how awful Patty’s parents are to her. Her mother constantly puts her down, and her father brutally beats her every time she does something that he doesn’t like. So that just makes me really angry and that’s all I’m going say!

I was sick in bed all week with an upper respiratory infection and was not able to come downstairs to the computer…
… In this book, everyone has finally come to believe that Lord Voldemort has returned. Harry knows he must kill Voldemort, but first he must get rid of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. (when Voldemort killed someone, part of his soul ripped off and he placed it in an object that would protect it.) His Horcruxes consisted of a locket, a ring, a diary, a tiara, a goblet, his snake Nagini, and Harry himself. So you’re probably saying to yourself that in order to distroy all the Horcruxes, Harry would have to be killed. In a way, Harry dies, but he doesn’t really. Along the search for Horcruxes, Harry becomes attatched to the Deathly Hallows: The resurection stone, an invisibility cloak, an an invincible wand. Guess which one Voldemort’s after? Once again I won’t say more here. Read the book to find out the rest.
